Cannot verify AD FS 2.0 install by browsing FederationMetadata.xml

As our server SSL certificate expired on the ADFS server we renewed our certificate and applied same on the server. After applying new certificate we were not able to access

FederationMetadata.xml to verify whether ADFS works fine or not. After lot of googling we identified the issue is with the IE browser not on the Adfs server.

 

The issue turned out to be IE compatibility mode. After running the url in the compatibility mode everything worked fine.
